B i o g r a p h y

Obadiah (aka Obe) was born and raised in rural Vermont. He first picked up the banjo in 2005 as a part of his highschool senior project. He spent that year studying intensively under renown banjoist, Bruce Stockwell, instilling in him the value of technique and stylistic integrity.

Several days after graduating highschool, and craving adventure, Obe slapped an RV camper on his four cylinder pick-up and literally busked his way across the country with guitar picker Matt Alpert. Not only did this year-long experience help Obe hone his chops as a banjoist; it gave him the opportunity to become comfortable with and grow into his role as a tried and true live performer.

After traveling, Obe decided to continue to follow his musical passion. So in 2007, he enrolled as part of the first graduating class at the Kentucky School of Bluegrass and Traditional Music. There he studied under, as well as performed with names like Bobby Osborne (Osborne Brothers) and Curtis Burch (founding member of the Newgrass Revival), bringing him to a new level of musicianship and professionalism.

Obe is credited in Bobby Osborne Jr.'s most recent album, and was nationally recognized in Banjo Newsletter - including a Tab of the Month of his original tune "Sasparilla". Along with his lengthy experience in the bluegrass/country genre, Obe has spent a lot of time learning a variety of musical styles. From bluegrass, to rock, to classical, Obadiah is one of the most versatile banjoists in the business.
